gibson cs vos ‘59 les paul (dealer custom order)

That title was a mouthful !

‘22 build that was custom spec’d by Five Star Guitars in Oregon.

“To say it was a process to bring this guitar to life would be selling it short; this LP was designed to be our nod to the one and only Jimmy Page and his number one, a 1959 Les Paul Standard that he bought from Joe Walsh for just $500. We flew all the way to Nashville to painstakingly select the tops for this model from hundreds of choices, at a tremendous risk of splinters, to bring you this homage to the Lord of the Riffs, in a beautiful Orange Sunset Fade Vintage Original Spec finish.

Gibson’s VOS  process is to hand-spray several layers of genuine nitrocellulose lacquer and follow it with a proprietary hand-buffing to create a glowy, gently aged patina. A mahogany body rounds out the resonance of that maple top for that time-honored Gibson sound, and a mahogany V2 style neck (a ’60 Slim C) completes the 24.75” scale, outfitted with a sleek Indian rosewood fingerboard and cellulose nitrate Gibson trapezoid inlays.

At the neck and bridge you’ll find un-potted Gibson Custombuckers, which were designed to recreate the original PAF pickups Gibson introduced in the 50’s, and are only available new from the Custom Shop. Versatility is the Custombucker calling card – warm, smooth, bright, articulate… the sky is the limit with tonal control here. Aged nickel hardware rounds out that ever-so-particular look. At the bridge we opted to leave the bobbins exposed, and chose gold Grover kidney machine heads to give one final nod to ol’ Magic Fingers.”
